TikTok Made Me Do It: Candy Edition
By now we know I’m on food TikTok. Everytime I see a new recipe, restaurant, bar, or cute food place I have to try it. And candy and snacks are no exception. I’m a very big snacker, and when it comes to sweet or savory I’m not too picky, I’ll eat it all.
The first candy I saw was the Trolli Planet Gummi. The first video I saw was of a man eating them and describing that first bite. He described biting into it as what he imagined biting into a tide pod might be like, since it has a gummy exterior and a sour gel center. Then I saw Trisha Paytas make a TikTok about them, then after that I was sold. Since they aren’t sold in stores in my area I had to order them on Amazon, and of course they were on backorder. After weeks of waiting for this candy to come in it finally arrived. The gummies came wrapped in the cutest little planet packaging, I’m a sucker for packaging. The exterior of this gummy candy seemed more like a marshmallow than a gummy worm or a gummy bear. It’s consistency is like a ticker marshmallow exterior, while the interior was a sour gel center. The sour center was my favorite part of the candy. I was also happy that this candy did not stain my mouth blue, like most blue liquid candies do.
The next candy I’m going to talk about are the Nerds Gummy Clusters. This candy is a new twist on a 90s favorite. This candy is essentially a Nerds Rope but broken up into little bite-size pieces. I first saw this candy mentioned in Jaclyn Hill’s favorites video. I then saw a couple of TikTok’s talking about how good this candy is. I quickly realized when trying to find the nerd rope clusters that it was going to be difficult because they were mentioned in a Jaclyn Hill’s favorites video. Anytime she mentions something she likes and adds a link the product sells out almost immediately. Lucky for me I have a friend who lives out in Arizona where they happened to sell this candy in stores, and this also happens to be his new favorite candy. So he was kind enough to ship me two packages of Nerds Rope Gummy Clusters to try and review. After trying them I understand the hype around them. I’m a Nerds lover but before this I had never even had a Nerds Rope and obviously not the gummy clusters. The bite-sized pieces make this candy so enjoyable with the sour crunchy exterior and the sweet gummy interior, it’s just a really nice combination. I would recommend this candy to anyone who enjoys sour candy or love’s a crunchy to chewy texture. If you have the opportunity and come across these candies I would definitely recommend trying them out for a new and exciting candy experience, especially if you’re big on texture.
